Hi, I'm Susan Clawson, the author of the 5-book 'better lands" drama dystopian series of which 3 are complete. I'm excited for you to begin the journey into this realistic world I've created. Let's hope it never happens!

Here's a little about me: I grew up in northern Vermont and went to a high school nick-named "Cow Valley High" since it was nestled between some farmlands filled with cows! I met my future husband-to-be during those years - LOL - meant-to-be 30 years later!

The initial college I spent 1.5 years at was based in the foothills of the Green Mountain state, with no bright lights or glitz surrounding it. The good 'ole days as some would say with no cell phones or internet when we were our entertainment and believe me there was plenty of it!

It was in those times that I first started writing poetry and short stories that were for my eyes only, well some friends and family were privies to it as well. For nostalgic reasons, I wish I could reread it, but the material is long lost from my many moves before I settled, married, and had 3 children.

Today, my high school sweetheart-turned-husband of 19 years resides in Massachusetts and are empty nesters, well, for the most part. We recently adopted a gorgeous Pomsky pup, Izzy who has kept us on our toes.

It was during the COVID-19 Pandemic that I started writing 'better lands. I had no idea where it was going. All I knew was I wanted to start a story with a young gal sitting on a boulder on the Market Place in Burlington Vermont, surrounded by devastation. I originally planned on it starting with "Once Upon a Time.

As characters developed, well, it's true what you may have heard, they took over the story like they do so many, and the 'better lands' came to life. I just sat back and enjoyed the ride!

So I cordially invite you to grab a copy of at least book 1, sit back, relax, and join Rosa, Jean-Pierre, Blitz, and hundreds of others who survived a 4-year pandemic that wiped out over 2/3 of the world’s breathing population as they embark on a 45-day tempestuous foot journey from Vermont to Kentucky searching for virus-free lands.

NOTE: I wanted to share that my initial intent was to get 'better lands' to the screen, but I didn't know how to write a script. this book series, although not a best seller yet, would not have existed otherwise. And now, we are adapting book 1 into SEASON 1 of a TV series! Stay tuned!
