'better lands' is heading to a TV series!!!
It's happened! An unidentifiable virus is born and multiplies itself in mass throughout the entire planet. It doesn't t need DNA to survive, only enclosed structures to hide in where it waits to prey upon any breathing creature in close contact. It quickly wipes out most of the world's breathing population including domestic and wild animals. No antidote was successful. It continues its reign of ungodly devastation.
During the first 3-years of the virus' existence, it set the world in a devastating tailspin. It created a place of constant sickness, uncertainty, and endless mortality. Enormous collapses within families, cities, states, and countries triggered disastrous chaos. Those that survived would never know life to be the same again. Fires, floods, hurricanes, and extreme temperature changes left most areas without operational power grids or cell towers. Most structures met their fate to burn mandates. As another wave of the virus was predicted, survivors needed to seek safer lands, if they even existed.
With over 2/3 of the world's breathing population gone, survivors had to adjust to the reality of living on the streets, in forests, in fields, and within tent communities. They resided among the burnt rubble and the stench of the dead. Some survivors in Vermont set out to find some rumored virus-free lands on a Kentucky peninsula. Led by 16-year-old Rosa Wells, they embark upon a 45-day tempestuous foot journey. They encounter new friendships, romance, violence, and hardships as disloyalties develop among some, leading to rage, violence, and even death. As they eventually enter some 'better lands' a sense of hope engulfs them, yet they face new challenges.
